Section 3: Community Involvement
Over the past year serving as a District Councillor, I have focused on being present in the community and supporting residents in any way I can.
I have attended a number of funerals, paying my respects to members of our community, including people I have known personally. These moments are always difficult, but they are an important part of standing alongside residents during challenging times.
I have also spent time visiting Elizabeth Mills Day Centre, where I enjoy mixing with the elderly, having conversations, and helping to brighten their day. It's always rewarding to listen to their stories and ensure they feel connected and valued.
I regularly visit the park in Lickhill, where I speak with local residents who use the space. These informal conversations are incredibly important, as they give me a real understanding of the issues, concerns, and ideas people have about the area.
Alongside this, I attend meetings with the Town Council most weeks. These meetings allow me to raise local matters, work collaboratively with others, and ensure that the voices of residents are heard and represented.
Being a councillor is about more than meetings it's about being visible, approachable, and actively involved in the community every day.
