Section 3: Community Involvement
I have attended meetings of the Save the St Georges Paddling Pool Group and in August 2024, I spoke on a video appealing, as a member of WFDC, for funding from outside bodies. I also attended meetings of the Safer Neighbourhood Team, with Broadwaters Police, and the St Georges Park Group (Friends).
I am a councillor with Kidderminster Town Council and a member of its Planning Committee and have attended many of its meetings and been on a hard hat tour of Kidderminster Town Hall.
I attended the Inquiry regarding Lea Castle Farm Quarry on 2 occasions and submitted a written statement for consideration by the Inspector, opposing the appeal. I was very pleased the appeal was dismissed and will be attending the final meeting of the Stop the Quarry Group on 29 April.
Section 4: Assisting Constituents
I regularly engage in social media as Labour Town and District Councillor for Broadwaters. I took up an issue with WFDC Refuse Section about the collection of garden waste from the gravel at St George's Churchyard.
Section 5: Supplementary Information
This year, I donated all of my Community Leadership Fund of £1,000 towards the purchase of books and baskets for the library at St Mary's C of E School at Stoney Lane, Broadwaters. I attended a social event in August 2024 to meet representatives from the delegation from Husum, Germany. In my role as district councillor, I also attended the AGM of Homestart Wyre Forest in March 2025.
Now that I have had my operation and am fighting fit, I hope to be fully involved in community activities. Going forward, for instance, I attended the litter pick organised by Horsefair and Proud in March 2025 and personally took waste items to the tip and the charity shop. I am supporting the Family Fun Day at St George's Park on 26/4/2025, as I know residents like to see councillors at such events.
