Section 3: Community Involvement
I maintain active involvement with a range of community organisations and local initiatives within the ward to support collaborative working and improve service delivery. I engage with residents, local policing teams, and partner agencies to address concerns and identify priorities.
I also liaise with local community groups, residents' associations, and voluntary organisations to stay informed about emerging issues and to support grassroots initiatives. Where appropriate, I work alongside partner organisations and external bodies to ensure coordinated responses to local challenges, particularly in areas such as community safety, environmental concerns, and public services.
In addition, I engage with council appointed outside bodies where relevant, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes that impact service provision and community outcomes.
Section 4: Assisting Constituents
I provide ongoing support to constituents through a combination of direct engagement, casework, and proactive outreach. This includes responding to enquiries and concerns relating to council services, housing, environmental issues, and other local matters, and working with officers or external organisations to resolve them efficiently.
I regularly undertake ward walks to identify issues first hand, such as fly tipping, highway maintenance concerns, and public realm improvements. These visits also provide an opportunity to speak directly with residents and better understand local priorities.
I make myself accessible to constituents through multiple channels, including email, telephone, and social media platforms. I use these channels to communicate updates, share important information, and respond promptly to queries. Where appropriate, I also provide updates through community forums or informal meetings with residents.
While formal surgeries may be arranged as needed, I prioritise flexibility by offering residents the ability to contact me at a time and in a way that suits them, ensuring accessibility and responsiveness.
With my ward colleague Cllr David Ross, I deliver a regular newsletter to all households in the ward. At least three editions are produced each year as well as Christmas cards.

In my role as an elected member, I am committed to representing the interests of my constituents effectively while contributing to the wider work of the Council. I balance my council responsibilities with professional commitments, ensuring that I remain accessible and responsive to residents.
I take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing local issues, with a focus on practical outcomes and clear communication. I also place importance on continuous engagement with residents and stakeholders to ensure that decisions are informed by local needs and perspectives.
Additionally, I am committed to ongoing personal development in my role, keeping up to date with policy changes, council procedures, and best practices to ensure I can serve my constituents effectively.
